Just wanted to share this with you guys, I was on my way to my office when I noticed a billboard along edsa probably around muñoz area, this billboard contains an advertisement of the J.A.O. Builders, a Contruction Contractor Company.
The most interesting part in their advertisement was a picture of a dude who at first glance resembles our “Pambansang-Kamao”, I was amazed at first sabi ko pa “and dami talagang endorsement ni Pacquio pati ba nmn construction pinasok na nya rin?”, but then I realized something is weird about Manny Pacquiao’s picture in this billboard he looks a little younger and then after looking at the J.A.O. Builders’ ad as a whole I noticed a caption trying to tell me this ain’t Pacman, this guy is Armando J. Tapispisan a model. I have no idea who the heck this guy is, all I know is that he was able to caught my attention thinking he is Manny Pacquiao and have given me quite a laugh realising he is not.
Marketing is really about creativity and how you can get the people’s attention and let the advertisement stay with them, either by humor, storytelling or any other techniques they can employ. In this case they used Manny Pacquiao’s fame, I’m not sure if they are not able to afford Manny Pacquiao or they deliberately used Armando J. Tapispisan to model for their advertisement assuming people may confuse him with the man like I did.
I was thinking maybe if Manny Pacquiao will be too busy on his t.v. appearances, Armando J. Tapispisan can substitute for him in his fight with Cotto…hehehe I guess not, but I’m sure Armando J. Tapispisan can be an instant celebrity impersonating Manny Pacquiao like how many of our famous impersonators succeed.
