How to update PSP to CFW 5.00 M33

In this tutorial we will be updating your PSP to Custom Firmware (CFW) 5.00 M33 so please follow the steps carefully.

Updates:

  • The category PlayStation Network has been added with the PlayStation Store now available under it.
  • PlayStation format software can now be output in interlace format or full-screen size on a connected device.
  • The feature Sleep Timer can now be used under Music category.
  • The system will now automatically enable USB mode when a USB cable is connected.
  • The Original Theme has been redesigned.
  • A new full-screen keyboard.

Requirements:

  • PSP with CFW 3.52 M33 or higher.
  • USB Cable to connect PSP to your PC.
  • 78% PSP Battery or full or better yet just keep your PSP plugged in.
  • 5.00 M33 files – you can download them here.

Now lets proceed to the actual process:

  • Connect your PSP to your PC using the proper USB Cable.
  • Extract your downloaded 5.00 M33 files to your PC.
  • On the extracted file copy the UPDATE folder to X:\PSP\GAME (X represents the drive letter of your PSP on your PC).
  • Exit USB mode on your PSP and unplug your PSP from your PC.
  • In the XMB of your PSP Navigate to GAME and then MEMORY STICK and you can see the application 5.00 M33 Update together with your games.
  • Run the 5.00 M33 Update.
  • Just follow whatever the on screen instructions tell you.
  • After the update you will be asked to restart your PSP, so go on restart it.

Congratulations your PSP is now updated to CFW 5.00 M33!
