After my PSP’s hibernation for almost 5 months, it seems it will once again serve its purpose as my portable gaming device with the release of Obscure: The Aftermath, The heart-pumping, thrill-seeking teen survival horror game for the PSP.
Obscure: The Aftermath is a sequel of the successful original Obscure title for the PS2 which I haven’t played yet because I’m still not in the mood in playing any console title just yet. The game is very similar to Resident Evil and Silent Hill, I really enjoyed the introduction where you control the main characters as normal collage students enjoying their usual day to day at the university until things get quite messy due to a strange black flower that students use to make tea in order to get high but instead turned them to big mindless lumpy meat monsters.

Just give me a minute while I analyze what the hell this thing is
What impresses me with the game is that dialogues plays and scary scenes just suddenly pop out of nowhere while your actually controlling the characters similar to games like Max Payne. Obscure: The Aftermath scares you and makes you laugh with its dialogues so you might end up like the crazy dude in the streets crying and laughing repeatedly.

Move b*tch before I blast your head off as well
The only thing I hated about this game is its combat mode, especially the over-aggressive AI companion, because you’ll always be fighting monster along with AI companions that all seems to have a death wish. You’re only given a choice to smash or shoot the monsters, you can’t defend or guard yourself but you can run away from them, the only problem is that your AI companions are just as mindless as the monsters so you’ll be running away while you companions are fighting the monsters to death. The only cure for this problem is to play the game in Co-Op mode, yes that’s right you can play Obscure: The Aftermath and get scared together with your Grandpa just make sure Gramps won’t get a heart attack, oh how I wish I have a Grandpa that is still alive to play with.
