Philippines – We had already claimed the title as being the “world’s heaviest SMS or text messages senders” and now according to Synovate, a global market research firm we Filipinos can even claim another title in mobile phone usage as the “world’s most savvy users of mobile phone features.”

Here are the result of the study with 8,000 total respondents:

• 87 percent use the phone’s alarm clock.
• 63 percent play games regularly.
• 48 percent listen to or download music.
• 44 percent watch video clips.
• 13 percent watch the television .
• 12 percent have broken up with someone via SMS or text messages.
• 35 percent agreed that they have hidden behind SMS or text messages to send difficult message.
• 31 percent agreed that they have lied about being late and where they are using SMS or text messages.

One of the primary reason why we always dominate the mobile space is because majority of our fellow Filipinos only have their mobile phone as a means to socialize, listen to music, watch videos and be entertained. More importantly this only proves that despite the lack of money to purchase more upgraded gadgets, we Filipinos never let this prevent us from keeping in touch with our family and friends and we Filipinos are this still the most affectionate people in the world. Who knows maybe in the near future we will be dominating the internet.
