Los Angeles – Last friday, Gertrude Baines the world’s oldest person died peacefully in her sleep at the Western Convalescent Hospital in Los Angeles where she had spent over the last 10 years of her life.
Gertrude Baines had no living relatives, her only daughter born in 1909 died at the age of 18 due to typhoid. she was celebrated by the media when she voted for Barrack Obama, the first African American elected president of the United States according to her she voted Barrack Obama because he’s for the colored.
When Maria de Jesus from Portugal died in January also at the age of 115, Gertrude Baines immediately became the world’s oldest person. Now Kama Chien, 114-years-old from Japan holds the title for the world’s oldest person.
Gertrude Baines will often answer “Ask God” when asked about her secret for living a long life.
